York Region is starting the next phase of improvements to Yonge Street from Davis Drive to Green Lane in the Town of Newmarket and Town of East Gwillimbury.
Crews will be working to widen road and improve the comfort and safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Improvements will also include High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, wider sidewalks, new cycle tracks, streetscaped centre medians, upgraded traffic signals and lighting and a freshly paved road surface.
Temporary impacts to sidewalks, entrances may take place. Lane reductions and shifts may occur as well.
Construction will begin in August 2025, with completion expected in late 2027. Thank you for your patience during the construction period.
