  • Take extra caution around watercourses due to the anticipated rainfall

    Created: Friday, April 10, 2026

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that rainfall is forecast for the Lake Simcoe watershed over the next 5 days with predicted total rainfall accumulations of approximately 50 mm.

While snow cover has mostly melted, the ground remains saturated and partially frozen in some areas, which will limit soil infiltration and most of the precipitation received is expected to result in direct runoff to local watercourses.

While widespread flooding is not expected, the possibility for flooding in various low-lying areas of the watershed exists due to the expected rainfall. Watercourses will be flowing higher than normal, causing local streams and rivers to become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. Children and pets should be kept away from all watercourses.

This Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 12 p.m.
