Recycling batteries is very important as batteries contain various heavy metals such as nickel, zinc, lead, mercury, lithium, cobalt, and cadmium. Recycling allows materials to be recovered, reused, and disposed of properly, keeping these hazardous materials out of landfill.

Battery Types Accepted:

  • Standard AA, AAA, C cell, D cell, 6-volt and 9-volt batteries
  • Button cell (e.g. batteries from watches, electronics, calculators, etc.)
  • Rechargeable batteries

Battery Types Not Accepted:

  • Automotive batteries
  • Industrial batteries
  • Leaking/damaged batteries

For safety purposes, please ensure that you follow precautionary measures when recycling certain types of batteries to reduce any risk of short-circuit. For more information, visit the How to Prepare Your Batteries for Recycling webpage.
