For the fourth year in a row, Newmarket has been named one of the top communities in the country by MoneySense Magazine's Best Places to Live national survey. In 2013, Newmarket moved into the number 10 spot on the overall ranking out of 200 cities from coast to coast. Newmarket made the top 5 in the small cities category, ranking 4th among cities with a population of 100,000 or less.
Governor General's architecture award - Operations Centre
On February 1, Rounthwaite, Dick & Hadley Architects Inc. (RDH) was awarded a 2012 Governor General's Medal for outstanding design in Canadian Architecture for the Newmarket Operations Centre. The project was recognized for its architectural excellence, functional efficiency and commitment to sustainability. The Governor General's Medal in Architecture is awarded every two years to recognize and celebrate outstanding design in recently completed projects built by Canadian architects and administered by The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC).
