Creative City Summit 2018 presented the Town of Newmarket's Inaugural National 10 Minute Play Festival in 2017 with an Honourable Mention in the Cultural Event Category for the Award of Excellence. This award recognizes a Canadian municipality that demonstrated visionary leadership by initiating, creating, and producing an exceptional cultural event or by empowering and supporting a community initiative that led to an exceptional cultural event.

People's Choice Award

The Town of Newmarket was awarded the "Best Application", a People's Choice Award, for of its Locate My Plow App at this year's URISA-OC Be Spatial Conference. Click here to view the media release.
Burlington Cup Award

The Town of Newmarket's Recreation and Culture department won the Burlington Cup Award from the Lifesaving Society of Ontario for delivering extraordinary lifesaving and aquatics programs.. This award is presented to the Municipal affiliate with the largest lifesaving program in a community with a population between 50,000 and 100,000 residents. Points are awarded based on the completion of certifications. This is the fourth consecutive year the Town of Newmarket has been a recipient of this award.
Integrated Vision Award and the Advance Planning Award
Date: February 27, 2018
York Region honoured the Town with the Integrated Vision Award and the Advance Planning Award for the Streetscape Master Plan. The Town of Newmarket and the Region of York (with IBI Group) developed a Corridor Streetscape Master Plan for those portions of Yonge and Davis that are outside of the Vivanext rapidway and that serve as gateways into the Town's Urban Centres.
